Tom O'Bedlam - Journal

17th July 1999

Well I'm all packed and ready to go. I'm off to save the whales in Wales. Okay, so the whales aren't actually in Wales, they're off in the Atlantic, but I'm going to be in Wales lending my skills as an administrator and computer geek to the cause. (I may not be Theo, but I get by.) Of course, I'd rather be out on the boats, but I'd be more of a handicap than a help, what with being... well, handicapped. Or, to quote a certain werewolf, a cripple.

Why am I upping sticks like this? Simple: I want to go somewhere where I can be useful. Somewhere where I'll be appreciated. We were breaking into a warehouse today, a warehouse belonging to the people that infected Naomi. The others came up with this great plan to get in via the roof. Only one problem: me. Then when we meet the big bad he comes up with the aforementioned taint, hardly original, but horrible accurate, and to make matters worse Naomi has to put herself in danger to protect me because she thinks I can't take care of myself.

The fact is that Naomi sees me as a burden - not that she'd ever say so to my face, she's far to nice for that - and I'm sure the others do as well, so I'm clearing out and they can get by without me for a while. She'll probably not even notice that I'm gone.
